Carbon Monoxide Detection

CO Detector PlacementRecently the State of Wisconsin enacted a law regarding carbon monoxide detectors. The law states there must be a carbon monoxide detector within 21 feet of every sleeping quarter, and on floors without a sleeping quarter, an alarm must be installed in a common area. For example: in a three bedroom ranch with sleeping quarters on one end of the residence, a carbon monoxide detector would need to be placed within 21 feet of every room. There would also need to be a carbon monoxide detector located in a common room in the basement.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that more than 2,500 Americans die each year from carbon monoxide damage. Carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas. Humans cannot detect this gas without some type of detection device, and for that reason carbon monoxide is dubbed the “silent killer.” So what can you do to protect yourself?

If your smoke detectors are currently 120 volts and are hardwired in your home, Faith Technologies can simply replace that unit with a combination unit to satisfy your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector needs. Faith Technologies can also install these combination units in homes currently only protected by battery powered smoke detectors.

We would like to offer you the peace of mind of knowing your family is safe and your home is currently meeting the state law standards. If you have any questions on this new law, or would like a consultation, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
