Engaging Employees in Safety Through Annual Training Weeks

As a company of more than 2,500 employees nationwide, Faith Technologies continues to develop unique ways to engage our employees in safety training and education opportunities. For many organizations, establishing effective communication with all employees can be a barrier that’s difficult to overcome. At Faith, one of the most effective communication techniques we currently utilize is our annual training weeks.

Faith hosts these training weeks in four of our main regions (Appleton, WI; Lenexa, KS; Atlanta, GA; and Tulsa, OK), providing paid travel and training time for all employees. The training weeks consist of face-to-face classroom and hands-on training in courses related to required regulatory topics, as well as industry best practices. Our safety training courses also include topics such as arc flash, confined space, rough terrain/industrial forklift, and OSHA/Faith updates.

One of our most impactful courses is our New Supervisor Safety course. This is an interactive course designed to educate up-and-coming leaders on their roles and responsibilities in regards to our number one core value, An Uncompromised Focus on Keeping People Safe.  Some of the topics we discuss include the history of our safety culture, how to handle OSHA inspections, the importance of effective communication, how to conduct a risk assessment, and how to lead incident investigations.

Through feedback from our employees, we continue to evolve our training courses to best suit their needs. By designing new, hands-on, interactive safety training courses, we create an atmosphere that leads to engaged learning between the facilitator and students, rather than the facilitator simply doing all the talking.
