Engineering at Faith Technologies – Not Just Business as Usual

At Faith Technologies, we employ more than 100 engineers, designers, and detailers in various roles around the company. Like every member of our team, the work they do is critical to the success of our organization. Though the engineering field has a great deal of commonly known responsibilities, we think we do engineering a little differently at Faith.

What is Typical in the Industry?

By law, electrical engineers have a primary duty to protect the public safety, health, and welfare in their electrical systems design by following and applying the latest building codes adopted by the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Engineers develop the electrical system design criteria, perform the analysis, and are responsible for the design, specification, preparation, and delivery of the electrical documents for the construction of projects. What happens next? They ‘throw the documents over the wall’ and wait for questions.

How Do We Do It?

At Faith, there are some fundamental elements involved with any engineering project we undergo. We work with our field teams through an entire project, making modifications or improvements throughout the entire build. These can be the critical differentiators between a project going smoothly and leading to success, versus misunderstandings and hours of rework to bring a job to completion. At Faith we strive to:

  • Involve operations to understand how they will construct the project.
  • Tailor the engineering documents to meet the needs of those using them to construct the work.
  • Create very specific details, or allow for flexibility in the build, as determined by the project team.
  • Ensure that the engineering team has hands-on experience with the materials they are specifying.
  • Utilize 3D modeling to represent the design accurately.
  • Provide Building Information Modeling (BIM) work stations in the field so electricians can manipulate the model.
  • Provide options, options, and more options.

What More Could You Want?

While the engineering process may seem basic and understood, taking all the critical factors into consideration from day one of a project are crucial. The decisions made during design have an impact on the safety of the electricians installing the work and all workers on a jobsite. The engineering also plays a major role in the efficiency of constructing the project, which affects both schedule and costs.

It’s not rocket science, but it is engineering science – and at Faith, it’s how we do business.
