Faces of Faith Technologies | Meet Josh, Superintendent

FoFT_Facebook_Josh CorrellAt Faith Technologies, we have some amazing employees who make our culture unique. The Faces of Faith Technologies series aims to highlight the talented individuals who work with us. Each month, we’ll introduce you to several of these individuals so you can get to know the ‘Faces of Faith Technologies.’ We recently talked to Josh Correll, a Superintendent from our Atlanta branch. Here’s what he had to say:

What led you to work for Faith Technologies?

I was working out of town at another company, and decided I wanted to work for a contractor in Atlanta to be closer to home. I had some contacts who had just moved to Faith from my prior company and encouraged me to apply. Long term the move to Faith was one of the best decisions I ever made.

What does your position entail?

I plan the jobs, work on the safety aspect, focusing on keeping everybody safe. I also work with customers and other contractors. I have a little bit more responsibility (and stress) than in past positions.

As a Superintendent working for Faith, I am responsible for making sure the schedules are realistic, helping the general contractor find a way to get the schedule done as close to the original timeframe as possible. This requires making sure we have the right talent on site and are utilizing planning in all aspects of the project. I used to lose sleep at night but have learned there is nothing that can’t wait until tomorrow. There are some days that you just can’t accomplish all the tasks that are put in front of you by the other contractors on site. This was one of the hardest things I have had to learn, because I don’t want to let anyone down.

What are some of your favorite things about your job?

I like working with the employees in the field. I remember specific bosses who gave me opportunities to better myself and learn. I think for companies to be successful, leaders must encourage their employees to try new things so they can learn the full aspect of the trade. That’s what I try to do on a daily basis. This in turn makes everybody better and more successful in the long run. I hope the employees I work with feel that way too.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Josh Correll_FoFT WifeMy family enjoys going to baseball games, soccer games, and football games. We also love spending time at home, watching movies and playing board games. We try to find the best in everything we do. We enjoy camping and teaching the kids how to do things outside.

Are there any personal accomplishments you would like to share?

I earned my degree from the University of Phoenix in business about a year and a half ago. I did it mostly to improve my self-confidence. When I made the decision to go back to school, I was lacking the confidence it takes to move up in the trade. The degree not only made me smarter, but it gave me a clear understanding on how to grow and work with others in a positive way. Even when things may not be going the way you want them to.

I don’t think the business degree was the best thing I got out of college at all. Taking psychology classes and having to learn how to write professionally were the most impactful aspects for me. You don’t realize when you’re taking these classes how much they are going to help you in the future. It was a crazy four years of my life because I was working full-time and had two kids. After completing my degree, I know I can accomplish anything that is put in front of me.

What’s your why?

To come home to my family every day. That’s more of a responsibility than anything.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I’m just happy with where I’m at. For now, I just want to learn every aspect of the whole company in order to be the best I can.
