Faces of Faith Technologies | Meet Spencer, Journeyman

At Faith Technologies, we have some amazing employees who make our culture unique. The Faces of Faith Technologies series aims to highlight the talented individuals who work with us. Each month, we’ll introduce you to several of these individuals so you can get to know the ‘Faces of Faith Technologies.’ We recently talked to Spencer Ward, a journeyman from our Tulsa, OK branch. Here’s what he had to say:

What led you to work for Faith Technologies?
When I started in the electrical industry I worked for a mom and pop shop. My journeyman at the time worked for Faith and told me all about the opportunities I would have as an apprentice, so I applied. Although I didn’t start in the apprenticeship program immediately, I gained experience on the job which helped me progress through the program faster once I was accepted.

What does your position entail?
I manage the branch power and lighting for a portion of a large project. On a day-to-day basis, I support the completion of tasks on the first floor and order all material for our area. In addition, I work with Excellerate Manufacturing to provide completed assemblies whenever possible.

What do you like about your job?
The people! There are so many opportunities to meet new people and work with different personalities; it’s a great way to grow personally and professionally. Working on the current project I’m on has been a fun challenge; the work is more articulate than prior projects I’ve worked on, which motivates me to be more self-reliant and focused.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Spencer Ward_FoFT_ActivitiesDeer and duck hunting, fishing, hiking and snow skiing are some of my favorite things to do outside. I’ve hiked the Grand Canyon a couple of times and went on a 7-day float trip with my family and friends there; we were dropped off in the middle of the park and had to navigate our way out, it was an unforgettable experience!

What’s your why?
Going home healthy and being able to do what I want – I value my freedom. My goal is to retire early and enjoy life with my family.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I’d like to be in a leadership or project management role, and eventually experience the “get work” side of Faith!
