Faith Technologies ICIANs Bring Strengths to Partners

Faith Technologies has long been hiring and training electricians to support the electrical contracting work we’ve been doing for more than 45 years. Through our nationally recognized in-house training programs, our team members receive ongoing training to continue to develop their technical skills.

This has become even more important considering the technological advances occurring in our industry today. Our clients are in need of advanced skill sets – not only electricians, but other types of ‘ICIANS,’ as Faith Technologies’ CEO Mike Jansen coined them – with specialized training to add value for our customers. And so, Faith Technologies’ ICIAN program was born.

Working with the training team at Faith Technologies University, two separate ICIAN program tracks were developed; one specializing in smart buildings and the other on smart manufacturing/plants. Curriculums were developed with the support of Faith’s solutions architects and subject matter experts from engineering, finance, risk management and cyber security. These team members are also involved in the actual training.

Our industry partners, such as Schneider Electric and Rockwell Automation, were also instrumental in developing the learning provided to support their systems. We were also fortunate to have the support of several trade partners in building our ICIAN training program. Tweet/Garot, for example, was instrumental in providing support of our ICIANs’ HVAC and mechanical learning needs.

Through Faith Technologies’ ICIAN program, our team members are trained to support our customers’ holistic business needs from energy management, to building automation, to industrial automation including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interface (HMI) and robotics. Not only can they do electrical and systems work, but they can also perform data analytics to understand power quality to help reduce energy costs and create productivity gains.

Faith Technologies employees were invited to apply for the program and were selected based on self-assessments, management assessments and strength-finding exercises. Those chosen needed to be highly capable of learning new technologies. Thirty-six employees went through the initial ICIAN training sessions, lasting 10-12 weeks. In addition to the technical training, Faith realized the importance of our ICIANS having solid business acumen and built this into the curriculum. Training in subjects such as lean manufacturing and key performance indicators (KPIs) was included to build well-rounded team members. The learning culminated with the ICIANS completing capstone projects consisting of case studies for which they researched and developed solutions, then created presentations which were pitched to members of the Faith executive team. With the majority of the students coming from a ‘field’ background, this was far outside of their comfort zones, and provided great learning experiences in the business environment.

Faith Technologies’ ICIANs are skilled in digital capabilities, driving smart factories, smart energy and smart buildings, helping our clients in their digital transformation reach their goals and objectives. Our ICIANs are trained to be trusted advisors to our clients. How can our ICIANs support your business needs?
