Faith Technologies Project Spotlight: 2550 University Avenue Apartments

2550 University Avenue ApartmentsJust a stone’s throw away from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s engineering school, stands an odd-shaped, triangular, one-acre wedge of apartments, lofts and town homes called the 2550 University Avenue Luxury Apartments.

Owned by the Madison-based family firm, Mullins Group LLC, the new construction of this multi-story (six floor), mixed-use building includes 130 units (consisting of approximately 47,000 square feet per floor), eight townhouse structures, three sidewalk level flats, an 8,600 square foot commercial space, and a 152 space underground parking garage.

Faith Technologies’ scope of work here included both the electrical and specialty systems.

For the electrical portion, our project team installed a 4,000 amp, 208 volt service with a 125 kw kva generator. We used extensive prefabrication techniques, and most of our home runs are able to be installed in the post tension slab reducing man hours.

The backbone infrastructure of this project included two Cat5e, and two RG6 feeds to each apartment unit’s consolidation points from the telecommunication rooms located throughout the building. For the specialty systems portion, our project team installed 42 analog cameras, 12 access controlled doors, owner-supplied head-end equipment, a full Simplex fire alarm system, and an Airphone, audio, and video intercom system throughout.

Attention to detail was crucial on this project – from the LED technology utilized for the lighting, to the design – and it was recently added to The Daily Reporter’s 14th Annual Top Projects of 2012 list. This award program recognizes the most challenging construction projects in Wisconsin, despite their size. Check out the video below for more project highlights:

It was an honor to be recognized, along with Stevens Construction Corp., for our hard work on this project, and a privilege to be part of this hardworking project team.
