Faith Technologies Project Spotlight: Olathe Health Cancer Center

Faith Technologies was pleased to be an integral partner at the Olathe Health Cancer Center, on the campus of Olathe Medical Center in Kansas. Working with general contractor Turner Construction Company, Faith provided the electrical, fire alarm and access control systems in this new 29,000 square-foot cancer treatment facility.

Working in a healthcare environment comes with special challenges, and Faith utilized various innovative tools and processes to meet them head on.

  • A medical-grade facility requires a high density of electrical wiring within the walls, and metal-clad (MC) cable is not allowed. Our Excellerate manufacturing facility manufactured all of the electrical boxes containing electrical metallic tubing (EMT) conduit, with standard cut lengths and stubs to speed up on-site installation.
  • Excellerate also performed kitting and whipping of fixtures, all of which were delivered on an as-needed basis via rolling carts to optimize material handling, staging and installation. LED lighting was used throughout the facility, which contributes to increased staff and patient comfort, as well as energy efficiency.
  • Faith utilized our extensive building information modeling (BIM) experience to drive project accuracy and productivity. Utilizing BIM detailing, we worked with the other trades to plan and coordinate as much work as possible going underground, to avoid conflicts. All the electrical home runs were planned and scheduled for speed pulls, also leading to rapid installation and termination.

Safety is one of Faith’s core values, and we were fortunate to share this value with the general contractor on this project. Faith conducted daily operational risk management (ORM) meetings to plan for safe working conditions in all phases of the project. Turner Construction also implemented their teams’ safety initiatives, which included a requirement for all material within the building to be on wheels and easily movable.

Faith Technologies was proud to play a part in the Olathe Health Cancer Center, which is the first dedicated cancer treatment facility on their campus. This comprehensive facility integrates most outpatient cancer services into one location, enabling the many physicians and staff members who diagnose and treat cancer to collaborate as a team. The facility was also designed with the ability to add a second linear accelerator when needed, as patient need for radiation treatment rises.

From preconstruction and design, to Excellerate manufacturing and installation and turnover, our team worked cohesively to bring this project to completion safely, rapidly and under budget, with a productivity rating of 67 percent.

Congratulations to the entire team involved in the Olathe Health Cancer Center project.
