Faith Technologies Speaks Toward 2012 NFPA 70E Code Updates

On October 6, Faith Technologies hosted a customer appreciation workshop aimed at discussing key changes to the 2012 NFPA 70E code that was officially released on August 31, 2011. The 95 attendees represented all the major industrial, food, and commercial business sectors, and it was interesting hearing how each one shared similar challenges in regards to electrical safety.

Pat Ostrenga, an OSHA representative from Milwaukee’s Region 5 office, joined us and covered electrical safety from an OSHA perspective. In 2010, electrical safety, and in particular arc flash citations, made OSHA’s top 10 most egregious list for citations. While OSHA typically has a larger focus on electrical safety, they targeted this particular topic, which led to great discussion amongst our attendees.

The entire workshop focused on the real life situations employers face each day, and brought value-added viewpoints to light. One customer in particular thanked me after the course saying he no longer felt as if his company was the only one not “up to par” with current compliance goals. His company is in its beginning stages, and now he has a better understanding of what he needs to do in order to implement a solid safety program.

Every company can benefit from a seminar like this, and every safety director responsible for the safety of others has this challenging topic to deal with. Faith Technologies’ next seminar is on Tuesday, November 15 in Neenah, Wis. and we are expecting a full class once again. If you are interested in registering or have any questions regarding our next seminar, please leave a comment below and I’d be happy to provide additional information.

Make it a safe day!
