Help Save a Life This Month! January is National Blood Donor Month.

Did you know that every 12 seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion? A single blood donation can help up to three people, so as we kick off National Blood Donor Month, we’d like to recognize everyone who makes the lifesaving contribution of blood and platelets.

Donating is a rewarding way to help others; when you donate blood, you touch someone’s life in a very real and special way. In 2016, our Faith Technologies locations in Menasha, Neenah, and Appleton, Wisc., held regular blood drives throughout the year. During these drives, the regional Community Blood Center collected 189 pints of whole blood, with the potential of saving up to 567 lives!

Those results are remarkable – so we’d humbly like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to all of the donors at Faith Technologies for giving the gift of life through your generous blood donations. We’d also like to thank all who visit their local blood and platelet centers for donation. Your time and donations are very much appreciated!

National Blood Donor Month is observed in January, due to the extra need for blood and platelets this time of year. The inclement weather during the winter months often results in cancelled blood drives, and seasonal illnesses may prevent people from donating.

As the New Year begins and we think about what our resolutions will be this year, maybe giving a little more to our local communities could be one of them. Blood and/or platelet donation is a great way to help your community and those in it, so we encourage you to roll up your sleeve and donate this month – and throughout 2017.

Unable to donate? Consider a monetary donation or volunteering at your local blood center. To find a blood center near year you, visit www.americasblood.org or www.redcrossblood.org. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for all patients.
