ISC West Conference

2011 ISC West ConferenceFor the fourth year in a row, I had the chance to attend the International Security Conference & Expo West (ISC West) held in the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV along with three other Faith Technologies’ employees. The show is the largest security show in North America, and is the main event where manufacturers showcase their latest and greatest products. I have always found this show beneficial and very enjoyable, and this year did not disappoint. With 900-plus manufacturers showcasing their products, there was a lot to learn and view. Unlike the last couple of years where the aisles were easy to travel, this year they were jam-packed. According to Anixter, the show saw a 10% growth with over 23,000 people attending.

The trends of this year’s ISC West show included Physical Security Information Management (PSIM), cloud storage, HD cameras, and smart phone applications. If you wanted to commit a crime, this was not the place to do it.  With the development and technological advancement of security, companies who invest will be more secure than ever.

Education is always a top priority as ISC West. We were able to attend many classes, seminars, and industry roundtables.  Jeremy Latzig, Security Systems Integrator with Faith Technologies, participated in an Axis Communications Certified Professional certification exam while we were there. He passed the exam, and is now the only Axis Certified Professional in the state of Wisconsin.

“I half expected the test to be another manufacturer sales test; however it was a quality exam. The test was meant to evaluate an applicant’s knowledge and skill set in the IP security field, and was fairly challenging. In addition, Faith Technologies is now part of the AXIS lead program. When AXIS receives a lead on a potential project, they are distributed to certified integrators. At the end of the year AXIS will announce the new partner levels, which will include the number of personnel required to employ to maintain our Gold partner status,” Latzig said.

The ISC West show overall was a total success. We brought the information we learned home with us so we can share it with our customers to better serve them. I’m already looking forward to going back next year!
